About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to support our growing mechanical retrofit project portfolio.

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing project drawings, specifications, and scopes of work and preparing accurate, competitive estimates for civil construction activities associated with mechanical retrofit projects. These projects may include chiller, boiler, and AHU replacements and upgrades in commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator who is comfortable working with multiple trades and understands the civil construction requirements that support mechanical retrofit work.

Key Responsibilities

Review drawings, specifications, site information, and project documentation to develop accurate estimates.
Prepare detailed pricing for civil scopes associated with mechanical retrofit projects.
Estimate quantities, labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project costs.

Price civil work including:
Concrete housekeeping pads and equipment bases
Concrete demolition and replacement
Coring and concrete penetrations
Excavation and backfilling
Drywall repairs and associated building repairs
General civil construction required to support mechanical equipment installations
Coordinate with project managers, mechanical estimators, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients as required.
Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
Identify project risks, exclusions, assumptions, and potential cost impacts.
Maintain organized estimating documentation and supporting calculations.
Assist with bid submissions and ensure estimates are completed accurately and within required deadlines.
Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings when required.
Support project teams with pricing and cost information throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience in civil estimating or a closely related construction estimating role.
Strong understanding of civil construction methods, materials, labour, and equipment.
Experience estimating concrete, excavation, demolition, coring, and building repair scopes.
Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify scope gaps and potential risks.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams.

Required Software Skills

Bluebeam
Microsoft Excel

Experience with additional estimating, project management, or construction software is considered an asset.

Work Environment & Travel

The majority of projects are located throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Occasional travel outside the GTA may be required depending on market conditions, project locations, and client requirements.

We are looking for an estimator who is detail-oriented, commercially minded, and understands how civil construction scopes integrate with mechanical retrofit projects.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable taking a project from drawing review and quantity takeoff through subcontractor pricing, cost analysis, and final bid submission.
