Service Estimator – HVAC / Mechanical

Job Overview:

Our client is a busy and well-established Contactor, looking for a Service Estimator to join their dynamic team! This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong commercial/industrial HVAC or mechanical background who has experience preparing quotes for service repairs, equipment replacements, retrofits and maintenance work. They are also open to candidates who have grown into estimating from a service technician, service coordinator or service management background.

What You’ll Be Doing:

You’ll work closely with technicians, customers, vendors and the operations team to turn service requirements into accurate, competitive proposals.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing technician reports and customer requests to determine the scope of work
• Visiting customer sites to assess existing HVAC/mechanical systems when required
• Preparing estimates and quotations for repairs, replacements, retrofits and service projects
• Pricing labour, materials, equipment and subcontractors
• Obtaining vendor and subcontractor pricing
• Helping determine the appropriate equipment and materials for each application
• Preparing clear, professional customer proposals
• Following up on quotations and working with the service team to secure awarded work
• Identifying additional repair, replacement and preventative-maintenance opportunities
• Working with project/service teams to ensure a smooth handoff once work is awarded

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience in commercial, industrial or institutional HVAC/mechanical work
• Previous estimating, quoting or service-management experience
• Strong knowledge of HVAC/mechanical equipment and systems
• The ability to understand a technician’s findings and turn them into a clear scope of work
• Experience pricing labour, materials, equipment and subcontractors
• Strong communication and customer-service skills
• Good attention to detail and commercial judgment
• Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
• A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to customer sites as required
• Experience with chillers, boilers, AHUs, RTUs, pumps, motors, coils, controls/BAS, refrigeration, piping and equipment replacement (Asset)

Compensation:

• Salary up to $95,000 (commensurate with experience)
